This autumn, the Constanța Art Museum is hosting a landmark cultural event: the inaugural edition of the International Mail Art Biennale. Running from October 10 to November 29, 2026, the exhibition is aptly titled “Fe-Mail Art”. It serves as a global celebration of femininity, exploring the female spirit as a profound force of creation, sensitivity, and resilience. Gathering over 400 artworks from 228 international artists, the biennale transforms the museum into a vibrant dialogue about the diverse experiences of women worldwide.
Among the standout contributors is Romanian-German visual artist Nicole Jutka, who brings her distinctive and thought-provoking perspective to the exhibition. Jutka is participating with two intricate drawings from her powerful series, THE SILENT VOICE. The pieces—THE SILENT VOICE_Mother (fineliner on paper) and THE SILENT VOICE_Mother. Artist. (ink and nib on paper)—offer a poignant meditation on motherhood, identity, and the weight of unseen emotional labor.
Through her finely detailed linework, Jutka constructs a narrative around the “invisible burden” that women so often carry. Her art delves into the dualities women navigate daily: acting as nurturing mothers, dedicated professionals, and the silent pillars of support for their families and communities. Jutka poignantly illustrates how women often consume their own strength in silence, bearing immense pressure to keep the world around them from fracturing.
The second work, THE SILENT VOICE_Mother. Artist., elevates this dialogue to encompass the struggle for creative freedom in a tumultuous world. In this piece, the female body remains grounded, yet birds—symbolizing unborn ideas and the innate human desire for freedom—rise upward. However, they ascend into a sky shared with threatening, bomb-like shapes.
Here, Jutka poses a critical question: Can true freedom exist in a world constantly threatened by violence and instability? Ultimately, her work suggests that the very act of creating art is a profound form of resistance against this harsh reality.
Born in Bucharest and currently active in both Germany and Romania, Nicole Jutka has built a reputation as a versatile multidisciplinary artist, curator, and art educator. Her broader portfolio frequently explores the delicate interplay between light and darkness, memory, and identity. With THE SILENT VOICE at the Constanța Mail Art Biennale, Jutka continues to use her platform to amplify the quiet, yet unyielding strength of women everywhere.
