PROFILE

Nicole Jutka is a Romanian-German visual artist, artistic researcher, curator and art educator whose interdisciplinary practice moves across painting, sculpture, installation, film, projection, performance and participatory art. Her work investigates light, perception, identity, memory, peace and transformation, bringing individual experience into dialogue with collective history and public space.

Since 2013, her long-term artistic research LIGHT PENETRATES DARKNESS has examined the relationship between the visible and the invisible through natural and ultraviolet light. Fluorescent pigment functions not as an effect but as a conceptual material: a work can occupy more than one perceptual state. The research has progressively expanded from the pictorial surface into spatial, architectural and site-responsive practice, incorporating reflection, movement, sound and the trajectory of the viewer.

Alongside her studio practice, Jutka studies Political Science at the University of Bucharest and develops research on art as a form of political communication, visual activism and cultural diplomacy.

Her educational and participatory practice spans more than twelve years, over 200 projects and more than 2,000 participants.
